The film opens with a scene of a young woman being killed and eaten by a group of zombies. The scene then cuts to the three friends who are driving to Pleasant Valley for their spring break vacation. They are your typical teenage college kids: Jeremy is the leader of the group, Reggie is the joker, and Keith is the nerd.
Once they arrive in Pleasant Valley, they discover that the town is deserted and that something is not quite right. They set up camp in the woods and decide to spend the night there. But as soon as they start settling in, they hear strange noises that seem to be coming from the woods.
Soon they find themselves being chased by a group of undead zombies who are bent on killing and eating them. The friends decide to fight back and they manage to escape. However, they soon realize that they are trapped in the town and that they need to find a way out before it's too late.
As they start exploring the town, they discover that the zombies are not the only problem they have to deal with. A group of local rednecks are also on the hunt for them, thinking that they are responsible for all the chaos that is happening in the town.

The film's special effects are impressive, and the makeup used to create the zombies is very realistic.
