This Czech drama, based on a novel by Bohumil Hrabal, focuses on the journey of sexual exploration undertaken by a young man working at a German occupied railway station in Czechoslovakia during the Second World War. Milos is training as an apprentice to become a station guard and soon becomes enamored of a young female conductor named Masa. An inexperienced virgin, he bungles their first sexual encounter and later attempts suicide. After a visit to a physician, he gets advice to seek out more experienced women to help him overcome his problem with premature ejaculation.
