The Black Guides of Mammoth Cave documents the history and legacy of generations of black guides from slavery through the present day.In 1838 three slaves were brought to Mammoth Cave to work as guides: Stephen Bishop, Materson Bransford, and Nick Bransford. Since that time many black individuals have helped explore the cave and led tours for thousands of visitors This is their story.
