Awakening is a Nigerian drama film that tells the story of a man named Xavier (OC Ukeje), who is haunted by nightmares of his past. He lost his wife and daughter in a tragic accident years ago, and since then, he's been living a life of solitude, cut off from the world and consumed by his grief. Xavier's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a woman named Joy (Kehinde Bankole) who has a young daughter named Maxine (Bella Rose). Joy is a single mother who works as a nurse and is struggling to make ends meet. Xavier, on the other hand, is a successful lawyer who seems to have it all but is empty inside.

As Xavier and Joy get to know each other, they begin to form a bond, and soon, Xavier finds himself drawn to Maxine, who reminds him of his daughter. Maxine is a special child with a rare heart condition, and her mother will do anything to keep her alive, even if it means stealing drugs from the hospital where she works.

Xavier's past comes back to haunt him when he discovers that Joy's ex-boyfriend, Tega (Bryan Okwara), is a dangerous criminal who is also interested in Maxine's rare heart condition. Tega will stop at nothing to get his hands on Maxine, and soon, Xavier and Joy find themselves caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

Awakening is a story of love, loss, and redemption. It explores the human condition and the lengths to which people will go to protect the ones they love. The film also tackles issues of corruption, greed, and the Nigerian healthcare system, where patients are often forced to pay for their own treatments and medications.

OC Ukeje delivers a powerful performance as Xavier, conveying the pain and anguish of a man tormented by his past. Kehinde Bankole shines as Joy, a strong-willed woman who will do anything to protect her daughter. Bella Rose is a revelation as Maxine, delivering a heart-warming performance that will tug at your heartstrings.

Femi Brainard plays the role of a corrupt doctor who is willing to betray his oath for money, while Bryan Okwara's portrayal of Tega is menacing and chilling.

The film is directed by James Omokwe, who keeps the pace brisk and the tension high throughout the film. The cinematography is stunning, with the Nigerian landscape providing a breathtaking backdrop to the story.

In summary, Awakening is a must-watch film that will leave you moved and inspired. With its powerful performances and gripping storyline, it is a testament to the talent and creativity of the Nigerian film industry.
