Ahockalypse is a horror-comedy film released in 2018, directed by Wayne Harry Johnson Jr. and written by Craig Patrick. The movie stars Jesse Rennicke, Alex Galick, Squall Charlson, Gabrielle Arrowsmith, Kaylee Williams, and others. The movie focuses on a group of friends who play ice hockey in a small town. One day, while playing a game, they accidentally break open a container holding a deadly virus that turns people into zombie-like creatures. As a result, the town becomes overrun with these infected beings, and the group of friends must band together to survive.
The main character, JC (Jesse Rennicke), is the captain of the local hockey team. He is struggling to keep the team together after a string of losses, and has been training hard to turn things around. However, when the virus breaks out, he must put his hockey dreams aside to help his friends and family survive.
The other members of the hockey team are also featured prominently in the movie. There is Jimbo (Alex Galick), a player who is obsessed with conspiracy theories and has a cache of weapons in his basement. Derek (Squall Charlson) is the team's goalie, who is more interested in partying and hooking up with girls than playing hockey.
The rest of the cast includes JC's sister, Bobbi (Gabrielle Arrowsmith), who is a scientist researching the virus, and Michelle (Kaylee Williams), a love interest for JC who also happens to be pretty handy with a hockey stick.
The movie is fast-paced and entertaining, with a good mix of comedy and action. The hockey theme adds a unique twist to the typical zombie apocalypse genre, and the characters are both likable and relatable. The special effects are decent, and the makeup for the infected creatures is suitably gruesome.
One of the highlights of the movie is the way it pokes fun at some of the cliches of the horror genre. For example, there is a scene where Jimbo delivers a monologue about how he has been preparing for the apocalypse for years, and how he always knew that the government was hiding something. However, when he actually encounters the infected creatures, he immediately panics and runs away screaming.
Another standout scene involves the hockey team using their skills on the ice to fight off the zombies. There are some creative kills involving hockey sticks and pucks, which are both hilarious and effective.
Overall, Ahockalypse is a fun movie that offers a fresh take on the zombie genre. While it may not be the most groundbreaking film out there, it is certainly worth watching for horror fans who are looking for something a bit different. The humor and action are well-balanced, and the characters are endearing enough to make you care about what happens to them. If you're a fan of hockey or zombie movies, this is one film that you won't want to miss.
Ahockalypse is a 2018 fantasy movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 20 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.6.
