Action Jackson is a 1988 action-comedy film directed by Craig R. Baxley and starring Carl Weathers, Craig T. Nelson, Vanity, and Sharon Stone. The film follows the story of Sergeant Jericho “Action” Jackson (Weathers), a Detroit police officer pursuing a powerful drug lord named Peter Dellaplane (Nelson). Dellaplane is a wealthy businessman and a corrupt political figure, who uses his influence to stay ahead of the law. He’s involved in drug trafficking, prostitution, and he's also responsible for the murder of a union leader who opposed his plans.

The movie begins with Dellaplane arranging the murder of his wife Patrice (Stone), as he feels that she’s getting in the way of his criminal business. Jackson gets involved in the investigation, and soon he discovers that Dellaplane is behind the killing. With the help of Patrice’s roommate Sydney (Vanity), Jackson starts gathering evidence against Dellaplane. However, this only puts him on the drug lord’s radar, and soon he becomes the target of Dellaplane’s henchmen.

As the plot thickens, a cat-and-mouse game ensues between Jackson and Dellaplane, with the former trying to bring the latter to justice, and the latter trying to silence Jackson once and for all. Along the way, there are plenty of over-the-top action scenes, car chases, and explosions, all adding up to a fast-paced, adrenaline-filled ride.

The character of Sergeant Jericho “Action” Jackson is a tough, no-nonsense cop who doesn’t play by the book. He’s an expert in martial arts, weapons, and most importantly, he’s not afraid of taking risks in order to get the job done. He’s also not afraid to let his wit and sarcasm show, often using them to outsmart his enemies.

In contrast, Peter Dellaplane is a suave, sophisticated villain who’s always one step ahead of everyone else. He’s a wealthy businessman who uses his money and influence to bribe politicians and police, allowing him to operate his criminal empire without fear of retribution. He’s ruthless, cold-hearted and he won’t let anything, or anyone, stand in his way.

Vanity’s character Sydney is a singer, dancer, and Patrice’s roommate. She’s an independent woman who knows how to take care of herself. She uses her charm, intelligence, and martial arts skills to help Jackson in his investigation. Sharon Stone’s character, Patrice, is a troubled, conflicted woman who’s married to Dellaplane. She’s aware of her husband’s evil deeds, but feels powerless to stop him. She’s the catalyst that sets the story in motion, and her murder sets Jackson on his quest for justice.

Overall, Action Jackson is an entertaining, albeit far-fetched, action film that is full of energy. The movie has a great soundtrack, which features songs from Michael Des Barres, Chaka Khan, and Herbie Hancock. The chemistry between the main cast is good, and there are plenty of humorous moments scattered throughout the film. However, the film suffers from a rather weak plot, stilted dialogue, and cliché characters. The action scenes are well choreographed, but at times they feel contrived and over-the-top.

In conclusion, Action Jackson is a classic ‘80s action film that’s worth watching for its over-the-top action scenes and humorous moments. It’s a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s full of clichés and stereotypes, which may be both its weakness and its strength. Despite its flaws, it’s a fun ride that fans of the genre will enjoy.

Action Jackson is a 2011 documentary with a runtime of 50 minutes.
